Website Evaluation and Performance Improvement

- Brand: logo and vision statement help impart organization's image to visitor
- Emotion: ability of website to generate a positive feeling
- Credibility: ability to impart a sense of trust to the visitor
- Promise: anticipation website will provide what target user is expecting
- Content: relevance with appropriate breadth and depth
- Action: ability to understand and complete desired activity or response

We utilize a user centric design methodology which:
- Strikes a balance between the user’s needs and goals of the organization;
- Utilizes a proven structured approach based on time honored and tested methodologies;
- Saves time and money by focusing on what really matters;
- Emphasizes the planning prior to coding;
- Validate through user testing;
- Involves all of the critical departments in the redesign process including marketing and web team;
- Encourages innovation by comparing what other people are doing;
- Identifies best practices;
- Emphasizes continuous improvement through performance measures;
- Fosters learning – customers needs, organizational objectives and state of the art applications; and,
- Measure and celebrate success.
This structured approach uses the following stages:
- Develop a Work Plan
This is a critical planning stage where the scope of the project, timelines and deliverables are determined based on the needs of the client. Our methodology is scalable from small website/organizations to major corporate and government websites. The major difference is time and complexity of the analysis. - Establish Website Objectives
The guiding principles used are tied directly to the objectives of the organization, which establish the website objectives. This is used as a common point of reference to ensure that the project does not get off track and aids in validating the concept and implementation of the website as the project progresses. - Discovery Process
This is the initial what is scenario and is important in finding out what is good about the current website and how that can be improved upon. Normally a redesign is a realignment of the website to correspond to the corporate objectives as well as revitalizing an aging website.
3.1. Perform a comprehensive Website Audit
A comprehensive website audit analyzes the user traffic, content mapping and identifies trends and generally provides a window on how the existing website performed. It also identifies what areas/content worked well and what can be improved or added.
3.2. Complete a User Discovery Analysis (Audience Definition)
Understanding the user is the key to success and this stage develops a user profile using personas that are built through web analytics, user interviews, stakeholder inputs and other data gathering techniques.
3.3. Perform a Market Analysis and Assessment
It is important to understand what others are doing either to obtain competitor advantage or to see the latest in best practices that can be applied to the organizations website.
- Develop the Website Strategy
From the discovery phase, a solid web strategy can be developed. This strategy not only establishes the short term implementation but also lays the ground work for future applications such as social networking and multimedia. - Build Information Architecture and Design
This building phase is where the form and functionality of the website is developed – on “paper” and user testing, stakeholder feedback and other inputs. Wireframes and interactive prototypes are built to demonstrate the layout and can be tested for usability. This is a very flexible and effective phase for fine tuning the design prior to handing the design over to the creative design team. - Perform Usability Testing (ongoing)
Having users test the website on a continuous basis ensures that the website will meet the needs of the organization and the users. - Ongoing support
We provide a smooth transition from the strategy phase to the design stage and are available to explain or expand on the prior work. Performance measures are an important validation of how well the website is performing to the desired objectives. We help develop Key Performance Indicators throughout the project and provide assistance in interpreting and developing action for continuous improvement.
